Using all-natural dog soap bars can offer several benefits for your furry friend and the environment. Here are five compelling reasons to consider using them:

Natural dog soap is Gentle on the Skin and Coat

All-natural dog soap bars are typically formulated with mild, organic ingredients.  These are less likely to irritate your dog’s sensitive skin. They often contain moisturising components like natural oils and butters. These can help maintain a healthy and shiny coat while preventing dryness and itchiness. My Handmade all natural dog bar soap uses heavenly coconut oil as the main ingredient which is moisturising and leaves the coat feeling smooth and silky. Available in 100g bars or 200g bars on a rope. They are a brilliant way to wash your dog. Coconut oil is well known for it’s natural anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory properties. It contains Vitamin E and is an excellent moisturiser. All our Solid bar Horse & dog soaps contain free floating coconut oil within each bar. Just enough to moisturise the skin without weighing down the coat.

Free from Harsh Chemicals

Many commercial dog shampoos and soaps contain synthetic fragrances, sulfates, parabens, and other harsh chemicals.  These can strip the natural oils from your dog’s skin and coat. Opting for all-natural soap bars ensures that you’re avoiding these potentially harmful ingredients. They promote better overall skin health for your dog. My handmade dog soaps do not contain any Parabens, SLS SLES or any artificial Surfactants or perfumes, the only ingredients are Coconut Oil, Water and Lye plus the scent ingredients of essential oils. These have beneficial properties. It can help itchy dogs and horses and is great for sensitive skin.

Environmental Friendly

All-natural soap bars are generally biodegradable and environmentally friendly. They break down naturally over time, causing minimal harm to aquatic life and ecosystems when they eventually enter water systems. This choice contributes to a more sustainable bathing routine for your pet.

My main aim when researching horse and dog soap bars was to develop a soap bar that was plastic free and free from all harsh chemicals, it needed to be completely natural. I’m so pleased with the horse and dog soap that I sell. They are completely environmentally friendly even the rope will biodegrade. My reviews really do reflect that.

Most dog shampoo bars have Reduced Packaging Waste

Many all-natural dog soap bars are packaged in minimal or plastic-free packaging. This helps to reduce plastic waste compared to traditional liquid shampoos that often come in plastic bottles. Choosing soap bars can contribute to a reduction in your carbon footprint and waste production. This is one of my main aims here at Chester & Cooke.

Solid dog soap bars are cost-effective

While the initial cost of an all-natural soap bar might be slightly higher than some conventional shampoos, these bars tend to last longer due to their concentrated formulation. This means you’ll need to buy them less frequently, ultimately saving you money in the long run.  As a guide 1 x 100g bar will bath 5 westie sized dogs. Our 100g bars cost £6.95 and 200g bars on a rope cost £10.95. the 100g bars you can buy in a set with a small tin of paw balm to try the different scents. You can shop sets HERE

Remember, even though all-natural dog soap bars offer many benefits, it’s essential to ensure that the specific soap bar you choose is appropriate for your dog’s skin type and any potential allergies you or they might have. Always read the ingredient list before making any changes to your dog’s bathing routine.
